warning signs of toxic relationships | Angela Sasseville, MA, LPC ...

1.??? Cheating, affairs and/or unusual sexual practices.

People who demand acceptance of unusual sexual behaviors, including affairs, as a prerequisite to being in a relationship are a bad bet unless you subscribe to exactly the same set of rules.? I?m not talking about the occasional foray into Frederick?s of Hollywood garb, but rather practice like S&M or bondage or other destructive behaviors. If you tell your partner you are not comfortable trying something and he or she persists, be warned that this behavior is possibility toxic.

PFT: Warner thinks Williams deserves 2nd chance

Getty Images

Last month, when word first broke of the Saints using a bounty system for three years, we pointed out at some point that the targeting of players for injuries will do nothing to make teams more candid about the reporting of existing player injuries.? Now that the audio of Gregg Williams? pre-game comments from January 2012 has been released, with graphic instructions on how to inflict injury on opponents, look for coaches to be even more reluctant to disclose who is hurt and what is hurting them.

As many of you have suggested, it also may be time for the NFL to revisit its injury-reporting policies.? We have long believed that the NFL has constructed a cursory set of injury guidelines in order to create the impression that there is no inside information for folks with gambling interests to attempt to obtain by, for example, offering envelopes full of cash to someone in the organization who knows the truth.? Now that we know Williams was offering envelopes full of cash to players who successfully knocked other players out of games, the NFL may be forced to choose between the lesser of two cash-envelopes evils.

Since the league?s injury-reporting system currently has plenty of flaws that the league doesn?t seem inclined to fix, maybe the NFL should adopt an NHL-style ?upper body?/?lower body? approach to injuries, which would then possibly give folks who plan to target players for injuries a more vague bull?s eye.

Of course, that won?t solve the problem.? There has always been a strategic benefit to knocking key members of the opposing team out of a game.? But most players and coaches have refrained from declaring that reality publicly.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall pulled back the curtain last September, when Washington was preparing to play the Cowboys and quarterback Tony Romo, who was recovering from a rib injury.? ?I want to get a chance to put my helmet on whatever?s hurt,? Hall said.? ?Romo?s ribs ? I?m going to be asking for some corner blitzes.? If I know Felix Jones? shoulder?s hurt, I?m not going to cut him.? I?m definitely going to try to hit him up high, so that?s just part of it.

?If you know something?s wrong with an opponent, you?re going to try to target in on that,? Hall added.? ?We?re going to try to definitely get as many hats on that team as possible.?

Here?s what I added at the time:? ?Hall isn?t saying anything that football players don?t already think.? Especially at the quarterback position, any opportunity to knock the starter out of the game should be embraced.?

Several Saints fans, grasping for anything that will draw attention away from the stunning comments of their former defensive coordinator, have suggested that what I wrote seven months ago is no different than what Williams said in January.? To that I say, ?Child please.?? The difference is that what I wrote is something that players innately know to be true, and that the line is hopelessly crossed when a man who isn?t putting on a uniform and entering harm?s way commands his troops to, essentially, ?sweep the leg.?

The Saints fans who have been looking for something/anything to cushion the consequences of offering money to inflict injury and/or urging players to inflict specific types of injuries also have overlooked the next paragraph of our story from September 2011:? ?But when it comes to putting a helmet on Romo?s ribs, Hall should be careful not to do it when Romo is in the act of throwing a pass, or when he has just thrown a pass.? Under the rules, Romo is defenseless at those times, and he can?t be hit in the helmet or with a helmet.?

If a player hits another player hard within the confines of the rules and the player who receives the hit can?t continue to play because of it, that?s a traditionally unspoken strategic reality of football.? If, for example, Hall successfully had blasted Romo during the ensuing game and Romo?s backup would have been forced into the fray, the Redskins would have had a better chance to win.

The balance the NFL now has to strike as it tries to change its culture comes from the inherent difference between the things that players and coaches already know ? and the things that coaches and players say openly about the things they know.? As part of that balance, the NFL needs to reconsider whether and to what extent players and coaches should ever know that opponents enter a given game already injured.

In the end, that may be the only way to properly address what was, before March 2, an open secret for the NFL.

If you don?t already have some, install some ceiling fans in all your rooms. You can use these to cool rooms and circulate the air, reducing the need to use your air conditioning unit. This in turn will save you money on your electric bill and most likely increase the life expectancy of your air conditioner.

To reduce the amount of water you use in the shower, install a low-flow shower head. Many varieties provide great pressure while using fewer gallons per minute than standard shower heads. Not only does this save you money on your water bill, but using less hot water means that your water heater doesn?t heat as much, either.

If you are hiring someone to perform your home improvement work, make sure to ask for their references. Think of it in terms of hiring an employee for your business. You want to look into their background as much as possible and make sure that other people have been pleased with their service.

If you?re doing home improvements to help the sale of a home, you must focus on aesthetics, but you should also have a home inspection, just in case something serious needs to be done, as well. If you can install a new roof or furnace, it will show the buyers that you were on top of your game and will permit you to command a higher price.

When working with home improvement in order to survive, it is important that you have ALL of the knowledge you need about home improvement before you jump into the job market. This is because, if you are on a job that someone expects you to be able to do and you can?t complete it or are taking too long, this will cost you in the long run.

An inexpensive way to improve the appearance of your home?s interior is by replacing your curtains. Old and worn-out curtains will make your home look dated and worn-out too. New curtains will brighten up a room and can be had from discount stores at a fairly minimal cost to you.

Copper is by far the most attractive building material for thieves, so exercise care when installing copper pipe and wiring. Whenever possible these installations should not be done until the house, ideally the entire property, can be protected by lock and key. Thieves are talented at stripping copper from a building site very quickly. Protect your copper supplies, so you don?t wind up buying it twice.

Make sure you have weather stripping around all of your doors and windows. This helps you with multiple problems. It keeps air from leaking out keeping your house cooler or warmer when you?re running your A/C or heat. It can also keep little critters from finding their way in. It?s also good if you?re in an area that floods a lot, to keep water from seeping in.

Now that you know a little bit more about home improvement, you are all set to embark on the around the house project of your choosing. Whether or not you start with something small or tackle a monster of a job is completely up to you. Either way, you?ll have the confidence you need to improve your home.

How Online Phone Tools Such As Audio Conferencing Benefit Small ...

In a business where opinions count, audio conferencing is a valuable tool. Call conferencing is simply a way of joining multiple callers together into the same discussion. Conference calling has become part of everyday business, with calls being used for meetings and important discussions as would normally happen face-to-face. Audio conferencing is not a new feature, but has become a lot more user friendly with the development of VoIP systems to make and receive phone calls.

There is no denying the importance of the internet to commerce. As broadband providers fine tune their service speed, programmers come up with more services that are possible online. Landlines were once the most important part of a business, but some studies suggest that one in four American homes no longer use a landline, and this is spreading quickly into the world of business.

In addition to audio conferencing, other elements are pushing internet phone lines into the pole position of communication technology. High-speed internet connections allow for multiple calls to be made and received at the same time, without an interruption in service. This makes it a perfect application for busy call centers. Calls can also be directed to different locations within the call system at the touch of a button. If a department cannot answer calls, they can simply be routed elsewhere.

Companies havemultiple reasons to be latching tightly onto the idea of moving services to the internet. The main reason is that costs are lowered through cheaper calling charges and bundles of minutes and data. Lowering the costs even further, many providers will include the hardware at the start of the plan so that businesses do not need to purchase it. Services that are moved to the cloud also benefit from reduced overhead costs, including office space and maintenance costs.

Businesses that rely on good communication to turn a profit should be ready to embrace audio conferencing and VoIP systems, as they carry with them even more benefits. The internet has been a lifeline for small and struggling businesses with unsteady financial burdens. Almost every business now has an internet connection, so it seems right to utilize it where possible for saving money.

Our office telephone systems have a low set-up charge and low monthly fees. For more information, please visit audio conferencing as well as voip provider.
